The formula for prompts that generate well

Subject + action + one twist. Genmoji shines when the prompt is concrete and short: one subject, one thing it's doing, one visual detail. “Sloth riding a rocket” lands; “a funny cool animal doing something crazy in space with lasers” doesn't. Steal freely from the lists below.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write a good Genmoji prompt?

Use the pattern subject + action + one twist: “capybara DJ with headphones” beats “funny capybara”. Keep it under ~8 words, pick one clear subject, and add a single visual detail (hat, expression, prop). Stacking too many ideas confuses the generator.

Why is Genmoji not generating my prompt?

Common causes: Apple Intelligence still downloading (Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri), an unsupported device, or a prompt touching restricted content (real people’s likeness without permission, violence, brands). Rephrase with a softer twist — “duck with a knife (but cute)” works where aggressive phrasing won’t.

Can I make Genmoji of a real person?

Yes, of people in your Photos library who you’ve named — Apple generates a stylized emoji likeness from their photos. It only works for people you have photos of, and you choose the person during creation.

What if my device doesn’t support Genmoji?

Genmoji needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer (or M1+ iPad/Mac). On any other device you can build custom emojis in the browser with our free emoji maker, or mix two emojis with the emoji combiner.
